So I'm in Chemistry, not paying attention to the professor since I have a 93 average and he's apparently the harder Chem teacher and his tests are easier than my sophomore high school Chem teacher. So I pulled up the Wikipedia page for the Ford Falcon and started reading it on half of the screen while I'm taking notes on the other half.
I found out that it's $82,000 AUD which translates to $74,000 USD. I can't imagine it being any much cheaper if it was shipped over to the US. And the HSV GTS is $82,000 USD. Is there a market here for that? I understand the want is amazingly strong with them, but how would the US accept a GM or a Ford as a E63 or M5 competitor?

I *can* imagine it being cheaper. Straight dollar conversions almost never apply. That being said, it wouldn't be so much cheaper that it would necessarily make sense to import, not without tooling up somewhere like Turkey. As the Falcon is fast approaching the Panther-platform state of being an older unloved platform that nobody is set to improve and will note be replaced regardless how nice it would be, I don't see that latter happening.
Unless Ford comes up with a pseudo BOF railed unibody RWD platform to fill that niche as well as the Panther one, and has it as a *new* global platform. A boy can dream, right?

There was a conversation a while back about how taxation and differences in markets can change prices dramatically. A Mercedes SLS AMG might be $200k in the US, $230k in Germany, and $400k in Australia (made up those prices obviously). Australia in particular has some sort of strange pricing phenomenon because their cheapest cars convert almost 1:1 on price, but as the cars get more expensive, there's an exponential growth in the gap between US and AU prices. So take that price difference with a generous grain of salt. The pricing of the G8 GXP or Chevy SS are probably better guides to how an HSV Commodore, or a Falcon FPV for that matter, would be priced in the US.
I should add that I am a huge fan of the Commodore and Falcon and, platform problems be damned, it absolutely hurts my heart that they are going to be gone soon. While their history might not be as known around the world as cars like the Mustang and Corvette, I feel like replacing the Falcon with the Taurus (or whatever they plan to use) is not that different than if Ford had replaced the Mustang with the Probe. It's a damn shame.
